What a $3M Dental Practice Taught Me About Real Mentorship

A few days ago, I came across a video of Alex Hormozi discussing a dental practice owner's business.

You would generally think that when two highly successful people come together like that, they would discuss something complicated that normal people making a couple of bucks per month wouldn't understand.

But that's not always what happens.

The dentist's practice had grown from around $1.2M to $3M in revenue. His problem wasn't growth or making more money.

The bigger problem was that he was working too much and wasn't able to give enough time to his family.

And the solution?

Bring in an additional associate.

It would cost around $300K per year, but it could buy back around 30 hours of his time every week.

That's it.

No complex strategy. No complicated terminology. Just a humane and rational answer to a very real problem.

You would be amazed that even someone charging $20 per hour could potentially suggest the same thing, or maybe add a simple roadmap to the mix.

But why would someone pay a highly experienced mentor thousands of dollars for advice they could potentially hear from someone much cheaper?

Because they trust that person's judgment.

They believe that the advice will actually help them solve the problem.

And that's what mentorship and coaching are really about.

It's about trust and reliability.

The person needs to believe that you can understand their situation, make sound decisions, and see things from a perspective they might not be able to see themselves.

You don't necessarily need more money, more degrees, or complicated vocabulary to help someone.

You need the ability to understand a situation, identify the actual problem, and offer a practical solution.

That's what good mentorship should be about.

Not making things complicated.

Making things clearer. 🎯
